A320 Pilot Jobs 2026: 73 Airlines Flying the A320 Family
The A320 family, from the A319 to the A321XLR, flies with 73 of the 121 airlines on our jobs board. At the last check 34 of them had the First Officer seat open, recruiting or holding a pool, and 49 publish a First Officer entry for pilots without a type rating. This page lists each one with that status, what it asks of the rating and its published minimum. An open First Officer seat is not always an A320 seat: where the airline names a route on the type, we quote it as recorded.
Always confirm on the airline’s own careers page before applying. Every figure here is what the airline published at the date shown against it on our jobs board; entries marked Unconfirmed are ones whose requirements we found but whose current vacancy status we could not establish from the airline’s own pages. Vacancies open and close without notice.
Interview study guides for A320 operators
One guide per airline for First Officer candidates: the airline, its selection process stage by stage, interview questions with answer guidance, and the technical knowledge the panel tests. €4.99 each, or all 10 for €19.99 (every guide on sale, plus the Qatar Airways guide, sold only in the bundle). Instant PDF download; no refunds once delivered.

Do you need an A320 type rating?
The A318, A319, A320 and A321, ceo and neo, share one type rating, with differences training between the variants (see class and type ratings and the A320 ceo to neo differences). Whether you need it to apply is the airline’s call, and it splits the list four ways:
- No type rating needed to apply (35): Aegean Airlines, Air Arabia, Air Canada, Air France, Air New Zealand, AirAsia, Alaska Airlines (incl. Hawaiian), Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Azul Linhas Aéreas, Brussels Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Condor, Delta Air Lines, EgyptAir, Finnair, Frontier Airlines, Iberia, Icelandair, JetBlue, Jetstar, LATAM Airlines Group, Qantas Group (Qantas & QantasLink), SAS, Scoot, South African Airways, Spirit Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Thai Airways, Transavia, United Airlines, Vueling. The airline provides, arranges or sells the rating, or only prefers it; a multi-fleet airline may still put you on another type.
- Separate rated and non-rated streams (14): Air Astana, British Airways, easyJet, Etihad Airways, Eurowings, flyadeal, HK Express, IndiGo, Jet2.com, Lufthansa City Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, Ryanair Group, Smartwings, Wizz Air. The streams open and close separately, and the rated one usually asks for hours on the type.
- A type rating needed to apply (10): Air India (incl. Air India Express), Edelweiss, Hong Kong Airlines, ITA Airways, KLM, Royal Jordanian, STARLUX Airlines, VietJet Air, Vietnam Airlines, Viva Aerobus. Not always on the A320: some accept a rating on another multi-pilot type and assign the fleet themselves.
- Not published or unclear (14): Aer Lingus, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Discover Airlines, EVA Air, flynas, Korean Air, Lufthansa Group, Peach Aviation, Qatar Airways, Saudia, SWISS International Air Lines, Turkish Airlines, Volaris. This includes airlines with no First Officer entry outside a cadet scheme.
The non-rated doors at low hours are on the low-hour pilot jobs page, and the routes from zero on the cadet programmes page.
How to read an A320 vacancy
- Flying the A320 is not hiring for it. A multi-fleet airline decides where you go: KLM sends direct-entry pilots to whichever fleet has training capacity, and says there is no choice in this; Air Canada assigns the fleet; Delta trains you on its fleet type. The tables show each airline’s First Officer seat; the routes section shows where the record names the A320.
- Rated means current. Etihad’s rated vacancies, read on 25 August 2026, wanted the rating valid for at least two more months at joining and the type flown in the last 12 months; easyJet’s rated Gatwick Captains needed a valid A320 licence proficiency check at induction; Air India’s First Officer postings count 500 hours on the A320 family after line release; Ryanair accepts a rating that expired no more than 36 months before the course starts.
- Provided is not always free. TAP provides the A320-family course with a three-year bond and an indemnity of at least EUR 20,500, reduced pro rata; Aer Lingus bonds its operator conversion course, the amount reducing with time served; Wizz Air provides the A320 rating to non-rated joiners without publishing the terms; easyJet offers its non-rated Captains “funding options”, not a free rating. Ask who pays and what the bond is before you sign.
- Hours with a qualifier. Iberia’s 500 hours are on CS-25 aeroplanes; SAS’s 400 hours are on CS-25 or FAR-25 aircraft; Wizz Air’s experienced non-rated First Officer needs 500 hours on a multi-pilot multi-engine turbine aeroplane with a commercial air transport operator; KLM asks for 500 hours on multi-engine aeroplanes of 5,700 kg or more. Every airline’s figure is on the hours requirements page.
- A name in brackets is another airline. Where the fleet column names a group airline (Lauda Europe for Ryanair, HK Express for Cathay Pacific, Network Aviation for Qantas, FlyArystan for Air Astana, Hawaiian for Alaska Airlines), the A320s fly with that airline rather than the parent: Ryanair’s A320 route is for Lauda Europe, and Alaska Airlines hires onto a separate Hawaiian seniority list.
- Licence and passport first. British Airways, easyJet (at Gatwick) and Jet2 want a UK CAA licence; the US airlines want an FAA ATP, or the experience and written exam for one, and the right to work in the US; Thai Airways’ 2026 recruitment is for licensed Thai nationals; EgyptAir’s First Officer intake is for Egyptian nationals; flyadeal’s non-rated streams are for Saudi nationals. The regional pages set out the rules: Europe, North America, Middle East, Asia-Pacific.

Common questions
Which airlines are hiring A320 pilots? 34 of the 73 airlines on our board that fly the A320 family had their First Officer seat open, recruiting or holding a pool, at the last check; the table “First Officer seat open” on this page lists them, each with the date it was checked. That is the airline’s First Officer seat, not always a vacancy on the A320, because multi-fleet airlines assign the fleet. Check each airline’s current status on the jobs board before applying.
Can I get an A320 job without a type rating? Yes. 49 of the 73 airlines publish a First Officer entry for pilots without a type rating, 14 of them alongside a separate rated stream; 10 want a rating held when you apply, and for 14 it is not published or unclear. Where the airline provides the rating, ask who pays for it and whether it is bonded.
How many hours do I need for an A320 job? There is no single figure. The lowest published entry points for non-rated First or Second Officers among these airlines: Air France (no minimum); Vueling (no minimum); Smartwings (70 h); Aegean Airlines (70 h); Jet2.com (100 h); Ryanair Group (100 h). The 8 US airlines here ask for 1,500 hours, the FAA ATP figure, and rated streams often count hours on the type as well as total time.
Which airlines fly the A320 family? 73 of the 121 airlines on our jobs board list the A319, A320 or A321 in their fleet, by region: Europe 29, North America 9, Middle East 7, Asia-Pacific 21, Africa 2, Latin America 5. A few fly them through a group airline, which the tables name in brackets.
Is the A321 the same type rating as the A320? Yes. The A318, A319, A320 and A321, ceo and neo, share one type rating. Pilots moving between the variants complete differences training, and the operator keeps approved tables of the differences between the variants it flies.
