LATAM Airlines Group Pilot Requirements 2026: Hours, License and Hiring Process

UnconfirmedF/O: UnconfirmedCaptain: UnconfirmedChecked 25 October 2026

LATAM Airlines Group recruits pilots by affiliate, and LATAM Brasil is the only one whose recent minimums we could find. Its external talent pool for copilots on the A320 and the Embraer E195-E2, open until 7 June 2026, asked for 150 hours of total flight time, an ANAC commercial pilot license with an IFR rating and the airline transport pilot theory pass, ICAO English Level 4 or higher, a first-class medical, a university degree and Brazilian nationality, and no type rating, as the Brazilian press reported it. Its December 2025 call for the first E195-E2 crews asked copilots for 500 hours and Captains for 5,000, and both for a valid E-Jet rating or recent E-Jet experience. At the last check, on 25 October 2026, we found no open LATAM pilot call in any affiliate, and we could not read LATAM’s own pilots pages, so the First Officer and Captain seats are unconfirmed. The group flies the A320 family and the Boeing 767, 777 and 787, and LATAM Brasil is due to add the E195-E2 from the last quarter of 2026.

Always confirm on the airline’s own careers page before applying. Every figure here is what the airline published at the date shown against it on our jobs board; entries marked Unconfirmed are ones whose requirements we found but whose current vacancy status we could not establish from the airline’s own pages. Vacancies open and close without notice.

Is LATAM Airlines Group hiring pilots now?

Unconfirmed at the last check on 25 October 2026 — First Officer seat: Unconfirmed; Captain seat: Unconfirmed. No open call found; LATAM Brasil’s 2026 copilot talent pool asked for 150 h, an ANAC commercial license with IFR, the airline transport theory pass and Brazilian nationality

What we found at the last check: We found no open LATAM pilot call in any affiliate on 25 October 2026. The latest was LATAM Brasil’s external talent pool for A320 and Embraer E195-E2 copilots, which took applications until 7 June 2026; its December 2025 call for E-Jet-rated E195-E2 Captains and copilots had hired 54 pilots, 31 Captains and 23 copilots, by 28 April 2026 (both as the Brazilian press reported them). We could not read LATAM’s own pilots pages, so check the one for your country.

How we checked

25 October 2026. Writer, from search-engine results only (latamairlines.com refused the sandbox, HTTP 403): LATAM’s “Commercial Pilot” page (latamairlines.com → Work with us → Recruitment and selection → Pilots, also /mx/es/trabaja-con-nosotros/reclutamiento-y-seleccion/pilotos) appeared in results without its requirements; no LATAM call found for Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador or Paraguay, and no cadet intake. Reviewer, the same day, from the full texts the runner downloaded (LATAM’s own pages did not download): the LATAM Brasil copilot talent pool announced on 27 May 2026, applications until 21:59 on 7 June 2026 through the Trabalhe Conosco page of latam.com (LATAM Brasil’s announcement as Visite Brasília published it on 31 May 2026; Transporte Moderno and Fato Paulista, 27 May 2026): Brazilian-born or naturalized, commercial pilot license (airplane), IFRA rating, 150 h total, CCT de PLA, ICAO 4 or higher, first-class CMA, degree, Brazilian passport; differentials a US B1/B2 visa and recent experience or a valid rating on the A320 or E-Jets. The E195-E2 call of 15 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 (CNN Brasil, Panrotas, InfoMoney, Poder360, Aviacionline): copilots 500 h total on airplanes, IFRA and MLTE or type rating, CCT de PLA, ICAO 4, first-class CMA, degree, Brazilian passport; Captains 5,000 h on regular airlines (RBAC 121 or similar), 3,000 on jets, 500 as PIC on aircraft the size of the E2 or larger, degree a differential; both a valid E-Jet E1/E2 rating or E-Jet experience in the last three years (CNN Brasil’s list and Aviacionline; Panrotas’s summary omits it, Poder360 calls recent jet experience a differential); one-time bonuses of BRL 160,000 and 80,000; 54 E195-E2 pilots, 31 Captains and 23 copilots, hired by 28 April 2026 (Panrotas). The June 2025 call for about 160 pilots at Congonhas and Guarulhos, applications 10 to 20 June 2025: copilots 150 h on airplanes, degree, IFRA and MLTE or type, CCT de PLA (Panrotas, Aviación al Día, Meionews). Fleet: LATAM’s own description in the May 2026 announcement (Boeing 767, 777, 787; Airbus A319, A320, A320neo, A321, A321neo; no A350) and its fleet update of 6 July 2026 as CAPA reported it; the A350s retired in 2021 (ch-aviation, in search results). Chile: DGAC DAN 61, 61.601 and 61.607(a). Replaces the record of 21 September 2026, whose LATAM Brazil “1,000 h with a degree or 1,500 h without” no LATAM call we found gives, and whose “A350-900 (returning)” is not in LATAM’s fleet.

LATAM Brasil, call by call

LATAM Brasil is the affiliate whose recent calls we could find. We could not read LATAM’s own postings, so every figure here is as the Brazilian press reported it, with the date of the report.

Across the three calls, copilots were asked every time for a commercial pilot license with an IFR rating, the CCT de PLA and a completed degree (in December 2025 as CNN Brasil listed them). What changed was the hours and the type rating: 150 hours and no rating in June 2025 and May 2026, 500 hours with an E-Jet rating or recent E-Jet experience for the E195-E2 in December 2025, so read the call you apply to. An earlier version of our record gave LATAM Brazil 1,000 hours with a degree or 1,500 without; none of the LATAM calls we found asks for that.

Entry routes

The other affiliates

We found no recent call with minimums from LATAM’s affiliates in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador or Paraguay. Chile’s licensing rule is DAN 61 of the DGAC, its civil aviation authority: an airline transport pilot license on airplanes takes at least 1,500 hours of flight time as a pilot of airplanes, no more than 100 of them in a flight simulation training device, with minimums of command, cross-country, instrument and night time within them (DAN 61.607(a)), the same total as ICAO’s floor (ICAO Annex 1, 2.6.3.1.1), and the applicant must be able to read, speak, write and understand Spanish (DAN 61.601). LATAM’s pilots page listed Captain, First Officer and Pilot Cadet among its categories, as search results showed it in September 2026, but we found no current cadet intake in any affiliate.

Brazil’s other two large airlines also hire on an ANAC license, as their records give it: GOL from 500 hours with a valid passport, and Azul with a Brazilian passport and no single minimum, its recruitment committee assessing the hours. Avianca publishes no hours figure on our board, and Copa’s First Officer posting, as job boards relayed it, starts at 1,000 hours. Read each row with its date.

Selection process

The airline does not publish its selection stages in detail; expect an online application, screening against the published minimums, an interview and a simulator or aptitude assessment before the medical.

Fleet: A319 / A320 / A320neo · A321 / A321neo · B767 · B777 · B787 · Embraer E195-E2 (LATAM Brasil, from the last quarter of 2026)

The fleet, and the E195-E2 in Brazil

LATAM’s own description of the group, in its May 2026 announcement of the talent pool, gives its fleet as Boeing 767s, 777s and 787s and Airbus A319s, A320s, A320neos, A321s and A321neos, with no A350: LATAM Brasil’s A350-900s left the fleet in 2021, and in June 2026 the group was reported to be evaluating the A350 and the 777X as possible successors to its 777-300ERs (ch-aviation and Travel Extra, as search results showed them). On 6 July 2026 LATAM said it would receive 41 new aircraft in 2026: 13 in the first half, seven A320neos, four A321neos and two Boeing 787-9s, and 28 more by the end of the year, for a fleet of 410, with its first A321XLR to follow in 2027 (CAPA, 7 July 2026). The E195-E2 is LATAM Brasil’s new type: LATAM ordered 24 with options on 50 more in September 2025 (CNN Brasil, December 2025), and the reports of May and June 2026 said it would join the fleet from the last quarter of 2026. Our record lists the group’s home cities as Santiago, São Paulo, Lima, Bogotá, Quito and Asunción; LATAM Brasil’s June 2025 call based its pilots at Congonhas and Guarulhos, so check the base of the call you apply to.

How to prepare

LATAM flies the A320 family and, on its wide-body routes, the Boeing 767, 777 and 787, and LATAM Brasil is adding the Embraer E195-E2. v1prep has banks for three of these: the A320 bank, the B787 bank and the E-Jet bank, which covers the E2 models as well as the first generation; there is no 767 or 777 bank. LATAM Brasil’s recent copilot calls were for the A320 and the E195-E2, so start with those two, and the A320 interview set covers the Airbus questions a technical interview draws on. All three of its recent copilot calls asked for the CCT de PLA, Brazil’s certificate of airline transport pilot theory knowledge: the ATPL theory banks follow the EASA syllabus rather than Brazil’s, so use them for the performance, meteorology and navigation underneath and prepare the CCT de PLA itself from Brazil’s own material. LATAM publishes no selection stages in what we could read; its May 2026 talent pool said candidates would be chosen on their fit with the position, the points counted in their favor and their flight hours. Prepare as for any airline selection, with the CRM interview set for the crew resource management questions and your English at ICAO Level 4 or higher, which the December 2025 and May 2026 calls asked for (the December call wanted it valid for at least a year at hiring). Do the paperwork first: keep your license, IFR rating, first-class medical and English certificate valid, have your degree certificate and passport ready, and, for LATAM Brasil, a US B1/B2 visa counted in your favor in December 2025 and May 2026.

LATAM has no interview guide on v1prep yet, so for the selection read the complete airline pilot interview guide and the Library’s competency-based pilot interviews and airline simulator assessment. For the aircraft, start with the Library’s Embraer E-Jet family and flight deck for the E195-E2, and read class and type ratings for how a type rating is added to your license. The region’s other airlines are on our page of pilot jobs in Latin America, and the airlines that take First Officers with few hours on low-hour pilot jobs. Check LATAM’s entry on the jobs board for the latest status.

Common questions

Is LATAM hiring pilots? We found no open LATAM pilot call in any affiliate on 25 October 2026. The latest we found were LATAM Brasil’s talent pool for A320 and E195-E2 copilots, which took applications until 7 June 2026, and its December 2025 call for E-Jet-rated E195-E2 Captains and copilots, which had hired 54 pilots by 28 April 2026, both as the Brazilian press reported them. We could not read LATAM’s own pilots pages, so check the one for your country.

How many hours do you need to fly for LATAM? It depends on the affiliate and the call. LATAM Brasil’s copilot talent pool of May and June 2026 asked for 150 hours of total flight time, as its June 2025 call did, and its December 2025 E195-E2 call asked copilots for 500 hours with an E-Jet rating or recent E-Jet experience; its E195-E2 Captains needed 5,000 hours on regular airlines, 3,000 of them on jets and 500 in command, all as the Brazilian press reported them. We found no current minimums for LATAM in Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador or Paraguay.

Do you need a type rating to fly for LATAM? Not for LATAM Brasil’s June 2025 call and May 2026 talent pool, as reported: they asked for a commercial pilot license with an IFR rating and the CCT de PLA, Brazil’s certificate of airline transport pilot theory knowledge, and in May 2026 a valid A320 or E-Jet rating, or recent experience on them, only counted in your favor. Its December 2025 call for E195-E2 Captains and copilots did ask for a valid E-Jet E1/E2 rating or E-Jet experience in the last three years, as CNN Brasil and Aviacionline reported it. Who pays for the type rating, and whether it is bonded, is not in what we could read.

Can foreign pilots fly for LATAM? Not at LATAM Brasil on its recent terms, as reported: its May 2026 copilot talent pool was for Brazilian-born or naturalized citizens with a valid Brazilian passport, and its December 2025 call asked for a valid Brazilian passport too. For the other affiliates we found no published nationality or visa rule, and no LATAM call that offers to sponsor a visa; in Chile, the licensing rule asks an airline transport pilot to read, speak, write and understand Spanish (DGAC, DAN 61.601).

Does LATAM have a cadet program? LATAM’s pilots page listed Pilot Cadet among its categories as search results showed it in September 2026, but on 25 October 2026 we found no current cadet intake or terms in any affiliate. Watch the pilots page of the LATAM site for your country.
