Aegean Airlines Pilot Requirements 2026: Hours, Licence and Hiring Process
Aegean’s last call was for non-type-rated A320 First Officers, with an application deadline of 30 September 2026 that has passed, and search results on 12 October 2026 showed no newer pilot vacancy, so watch its jobs portal for the next call. The call’s terms come from an aggregator’s summary rather than our own read of the portal: an EASA CPL(A) with ATPL theory, or an ATPL(A), with a valid multi-engine instrument rating; 70 hours as pilot in command; MCC and Advanced UPRT completed; ICAO English Level 4 or above, with Greek an asset; an EASA Class 1; and the unrestricted right to work in the EU. No type rating is needed: Aegean provides the A320 rating, on terms we could not confirm. Olympic Air’s ATR 72 fleet has a First Officer route of its own, no direct-entry Captain route is published, and the bases are Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion and Larnaca, for Aegean Cyprus.
Always confirm on the airline’s own careers page before applying. Every figure here is what the airline published at the date shown against it on our jobs board; entries marked Unconfirmed are ones whose requirements we found but whose current vacancy status we could not establish from the airline’s own pages. Vacancies open and close without notice.
Is Aegean Airlines hiring pilots now?
Unconfirmed at the last check on 12 October 2026 — First Officer seat: Unconfirmed; Captain seat: Unconfirmed. Last call (closed 30 September 2026): non-rated First Officers with an EASA CPL/ATPL theory, ME IR, 70 h PIC, MCC and Advanced UPRT
What we found at the last check: Aegean’s last call, for non-type-rated A320 First Officers, closed on 30 September 2026 (job boards also relayed a type-rated A320 call with the same deadline), and search results on 12 October 2026 showed no newer pilot vacancy.
How we checked
Aegean’s own jobs portal (jobs.aegeanair.com) appeared in search results on 21 September 2026 and an aggregator summarised its non-rated First Officer vacancy, with a deadline of 30 September 2026: EASA CPL(A) with ATPL theory or ATPL, valid ME IR, 70+ h PIC, MCC and Advanced UPRT, ICAO English 4, Class 1 and an unrestricted EU right to work. Not read directly on the portal. That deadline has passed, and search results on 12 October 2026 showed no newer Aegean pilot vacancy (job boards also relayed a type-rated A320 First Officer call, 500 h on the A320 family, with the same 30 September deadline), so the status is unconfirmed until Aegean opens another call.
Requirements, as published
| Requirement | As published by the airline |
|---|---|
| Licence | EASA CPL(A) with ATPL theory, or ATPL(A); valid ME IR |
| Minimum hours | 70 h PIC minimum; MCC and Advanced UPRT completed |
| Type rating | Not required — A320 provided |
| Right to work | Unrestricted EU right to work |
| Medical | EASA Class 1 |
| English | ICAO Level 4 or above; Greek an asset |
Reading the requirements line by line
- 70 hours in command, and no total-time figure. The minimum is 70 hours as pilot in command, and the summary gives no total-time figure, so the route is within reach of a pilot who has only just finished training, provided the certificates are in place.
- Two certificates. MCC and Advanced UPRT must both be completed. A CPL holder without them does not meet the vacancy as summarised.
- ATPL theory, not a full ATPL. An EASA CPL(A) with ATPL theory is enough, or an ATPL(A), and the multi-engine instrument rating must be valid.
- English, not Greek. ICAO English Level 4 or above is required; Greek is an asset, not a condition. The unrestricted right to work in the EU is required.
- The rating is provided; its terms are not confirmed. Aegean provides the A320 type rating. We could not confirm whether it is bonded or what it costs you, so ask before you accept a course date.
The vacancy’s deadline, 30 September 2026, has passed, and the terms above come from an aggregator’s summary, so read the next advert on Aegean’s jobs portal itself before applying.

Selection process
The airline does not publish its selection stages in detail; expect an online application, screening against the published minimums, an interview and a simulator or aptitude assessment before the medical.
Bases and fleet
Bases: Athens · Thessaloniki · Heraklion · Larnaca (Aegean Cyprus)
Fleet: A320 family / A320neo / A321neo · ATR 72 (Olympic Air)
How to prepare
Aegean flies the A320 family, including the A320neo and A321neo, and provides the rating, so the A320 bank is a head start on the type you would be trained on. The route asks for 70 hours in command rather than airline experience, so make the ATPL theory banks the core of the technical preparation. We found no published selection stages; prepare for aptitude testing, a competency interview and a simulator check, and have your MCC and Advanced UPRT certificates and your instrument rating’s validity ready to show, since each is a published condition. An Olympic Air ATR applicant should lean on the ATPL theory banks too.
For the interview itself, read the complete airline pilot interview guide. The Library explains the two certificates the vacancy asks for, in multi-crew cooperation courses and upset prevention and recovery, and class and type ratings. For other first jobs at similar hours, compare low-hour pilot jobs. Check Aegean’s entry on the jobs board for the latest status.
What we could not confirm
- Researched on 21 September and 12 October 2026 from search-engine results of the airline’s own careers pages, job postings and industry job boards — not from a direct read of the portal. Check jobs.aegeanair.com for a new call before you apply.
- Bond or type-rating cost terms
These points are not published clearly by the airline. Treat them as leads, not facts, and confirm them on the careers page: careers page.
