Royal Jordanian Pilot Requirements 2026: Hours, License and Hiring Process

RecruitingF/O: RecruitingCaptain: RecruitingChecked 2 November 2026

Royal Jordanian, Jordan’s national airline, flies from its hub at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, and at the last check, on 2 November 2026, its own careers site had no open pilot posting: its last First Officer and Captain postings there, of January 2025, are closed. The open doors were the contract adverts of its recruitment partner Brookfield Aviation, listed on Brookfield’s own job page that day: A320 First Officers with 1,500 hours total, 1,000 on jets and 500 as First Officer on the A320, on a full or frozen ATPL, A320 Captains with 5,000 hours total and 500 in command on the A320, and Embraer Captains, all on 12-month renewable contracts based in Amman. Every advert asks for a current rating on the type, and none says who arranges the visa. Royal Jordanian had 36 aircraft in September 2026, among them 17 A320neo-family jets, seven Boeing 787-8s, two 787-9s and eight Embraer E2s (Jordan News Agency).

Always confirm on the airline’s own careers page before applying. Every figure here is what the airline published at the date shown against it on our jobs board; entries marked Unconfirmed are ones whose requirements we found but whose current vacancy status we could not establish from the airline’s own pages. Vacancies open and close without notice.

Is Royal Jordanian hiring pilots now?

Recruiting at the last check on 2 November 2026 — First Officer seat: Recruiting; Captain seat: Recruiting. Contract A320 First Officers (1,500 h, 500 h on the A320), A320 Captains (5,000 h) and Embraer Captains through Brookfield Aviation, Amman-based, 12 months renewable; no open posting on Royal Jordanian’s own careers site

What we found at the last check: At the last check, on 2 November 2026, Royal Jordanian’s recruitment partner Brookfield Aviation listed three contract adverts for Amman on its own job page, A320 First Officers, A320 Captains and Embraer Captains, all for pilots rated and current on the type, on 12-month renewable contracts and with no closing date. Royal Jordanian’s own careers site had no open pilot posting: its last First Officer and Captain postings there, of January 2025, are closed, and its last direct call, for 20 A320 Captains on Jordan’s national employment portal, closed on 8 April 2026. Confirm with Brookfield that a role is still open before you apply.

How we checked

Re-checked on 2 November 2026 from a GitHub runner’s downloads of that day, read in full, so the points below are direct unless they say otherwise. Brookfield Aviation, Royal Jordanian’s recruitment partner: its job list (brookfieldav.com/jobs) showed three Royal Jordanian adverts, “A320 First Officers Required – Royal Jordanian (Amman, Jordan)”, “A320 Captains – Royal Jordanian (Amman, Jordan)” and “Embraer 170/190 (E1) Captains – Royal Jordanian (Amman, Jordan)”, none with a posting or closing date. The A320 First Officer advert on Brookfield’s database (pilotsdb.brookfieldav.com, job 01079): a renewable 12-month Brookfield contract in Amman; a full or frozen ATPL, EASA, FAA, UK CAA or ICAO; at least 1,500 h total, 1,000 h jet and 500 h as SIC on the A320; an A320 rating valid for at least 3 months; a last flight or an LPC within the last 90 days, either accepted, and an LPC within 90 days before joining; a Class 1; USD 8,500 net a month, a five-star hotel, ground transport, positioning tickets, ID90 tickets, international medical insurance, non-commuting, 8 days off a month, not consecutive. The A320 Captain advert (job 01184): a full ATPL, EASA, FAA, UK CAA or ICAO; at least 5,000 h total, 3,000 h jet (“Turbo fan and turbo prop”), 1,500 h PIC on jet airliners and 500 h PIC on the A320; the same rating validity and recency; USD 12,300 net a month and the same terms. The Embraer Captain advert (job 01190, titled “Embraer 190/195 (E1 & E2) Captains”, and its copy on brookfieldav.com): a direct contract with Brookfield; an EASA, UK CAA or ICAO ATPL with an E170/190 rating valid for at least 3 months; 5,000 h total, 3,000 h jet (turbofan and turboprop), 1,500 h PIC on jet airliners and 500 h PIC on the E170/190; a last flight on the E190/195 within 3 months; E2 upgrade training by the airline, without a bond; USD 12,300 net a month on the database page (“competitive NET monthly salary” on brookfieldav.com, which adds that accommodation is provided). All three give the selection as document submission (a resume with the flight hours, the license, the medical, the last three logbook pages stamped and signed, the passport), a technical interview with the airline, a simulator check and license validation with the local authorities; none mentions a visa, a residence permit, an English level or an age limit. Brookfield listed no Embraer First Officer advert, and the job board that had relayed an undated one (pilotjobs.io) listed no E170/190 job on 2 November 2026. Royal Jordanian’s own careers site (careers.royaljordanian.com, a Bayt portal): its job search showed no posting; “First Officer” JB5227515 and “Captain” JB5227512, both posted on 8 January 2025 and expired on 9 March 2025, are marked “Closed or Expired” (First Officer: 2,000 h total, 1,000 h multi-crew glass-cockpit jet, 500 h on the A320, Boeing 787 or Embraer E2, an ICAO CPL/IR, a Class 1, English Level 4 or better; Captain: 6,000 h total, 3,500 h as PIC on multi-crew glass-cockpit jets, 500 h PIC on the A320, B787 or E2, an ICAO ATPL, English Level 4 or better), as are “A320 First Officer” JB4654969 (15 January to 12 August 2023) and “Pilots - First officers” JB3013908 (5 February to 6 April 2014). Jordan’s national employment portal (sajjil.gov.jo, Ministry of Labour), opportunity 46943: Royal Jordanian advertised 20 “Captain A320” posts, published on 8 February 2026 with a deadline of 8 April 2026: a valid ICAO ATPL, a Class 1, ICAO English Level 4 or higher, 5,500 h total, 3,000 h jet, 1,000 h PIC on jet airliners, 500 h PIC on the A320, current on the A320, aged 25 to 47 (the A320 First Officer post with the same deadline that search results gave on 30 October 2026 was not found). A job board, bestpilotjobs (its Royal Jordanian page, updated 1 November 2026), listed one open Royal Jordanian vacancy, an A320 Captain (type rated) from 5,500 h, published in October 2026, which we could not find on Royal Jordanian’s own site. Fleet: the Jordan News Agency (Petra), 8 September 2026: the 17th A320neo-family aircraft brought the fleet to 36, one of 10 aircraft of various types added since the start of 2026; an 18th A320neo-family aircraft due in December 2026 and two more in 2027 and 2028, and an A321 in 2027; two 787-9s added in 2026, a third due in 2027 and nine planned in all; seven 787-8s refurbished; eight Embraer E2s, mainly on the regional network. Indexed only, the downloads having failed: CARC’s JCAR-FCL 1.015, under which CARC may at its discretion validate a license issued by another ICAO state for use on Jordanian-registered aircraft. Not used: the job boards’ dates for the Brookfield adverts (AllFlyingJobs and PilotsGlobal could not be downloaded; the LatestPilotJobs copy of the Embraer advert now says the job is no longer available). Neither the adverts nor Royal Jordanian’s own postings say who arranges the visa. The previous checks were on 21 September and 30 October 2026, and earlier on 2 November 2026 from search results only.

How the Brookfield contract works

The adverts describe a 12-month renewable Brookfield Aviation contract based in Amman, not employment with Royal Jordanian (the Embraer advert calls it a direct contract with Brookfield), so read who your employer is, and what the contract says about the term, the roster, the visa, the license validation and the renewal, before you sign. On Brookfield’s pages of 2 November 2026 the two A320 adverts offer the same terms apart from the pay, USD 8,500 net a month for First Officers and USD 12,300 for Captains: accommodation in a five-star hotel, ground transport, positioning tickets, ID90 tickets on the airline’s network, international medical insurance, and a non-commuting roster with 8 days off a month, not consecutive. The selection, in the adverts’ words: document submission (a resume with your flight hours, your license and medical, the last three pages of your logbook stamped and signed, and your passport), a technical interview with the airline, a simulator check and license validation with the local authorities.

Brookfield’s Embraer Captain advert, listed the same day, takes Captains rated on the E170/190 and current on the E190 or E195, because the airline trains first-generation E-Jet Captains for the E2, without a bond; it asks for the same hours as the A320 Captain advert, with 500 in command on the E170/190, and Brookfield’s database page gives the pay as USD 12,300 net a month. EASA treats the E1 and the E2 as variants of one type, with the type rating EMB170, though they differ in the wing, the engines, the displays and the flight controls (the Library’s E-Jet family and flight deck).

Royal Jordanian also hires directly when it has openings. On its own careers site, its last First Officer and Captain postings (posted on 8 January 2025, expired on 9 March 2025) asked First Officers for 2,000 hours, 1,000 of them multi-crew on glass-cockpit jets, and 500 on the A320, the Boeing 787 or the Embraer E2, and Captains for 6,000 hours with 500 in command on one of those types. In February 2026 it advertised 20 A320 Captain posts on Jordan’s national employment portal, run by the Ministry of Labour, closing on 8 April 2026: an ICAO ATPL, 5,500 hours total, 3,000 on jets, 1,000 in command of jet airliners and 500 in command on the A320, ICAO English Level 4 or higher and an age of 25 to 47. A job board listed a Royal Jordanian A320 Captain vacancy from 5,500 hours as published in October 2026, which we could not find on Royal Jordanian’s own site; we found no direct posting open on 2 November 2026.

Read each row with its date. Emirates was recruiting First Officers and Captains for Dubai, with a recruitment roadshow reported to run to February 2027 (12 October 2026); Etihad’s own recruitment system listed A320 and A330 First Officer and Captain vacancies, all for pilots already rated and current on the type (20 October 2026); flydubai publishes rated and non-rated First Officer and Captain streams, each under a three-year training bond, though we could not open its application portal to see which are taking applications (20 October 2026); and Qatar Airways had no mainline direct-entry vacancy, its cadet program being for Qatari nationals only (12 October 2026). Of the five, Royal Jordanian was the only one whose open roles at its last check were an agency’s contracts rather than its own vacancies.

Selection process

  1. Document submission to Brookfield Aviation: a resume with your flight hours, your license and Class 1 medical, the last three pages of your logbook stamped and signed, your passport
  2. A technical interview with the airline
  3. A simulator check
  4. License validation with the local authorities

Bases and fleet

Bases: Amman, at Queen Alia International Airport: the only base Royal Jordanian and Brookfield Aviation’s adverts name

Fleet: 36 aircraft after the 17th A320neo-family aircraft joined, one of 10 aircraft of various types added since the start of 2026 (Jordan News Agency, 8 September 2026) · A320neo family: 17 in September 2026, an 18th due in December 2026 and two more in 2027 and 2028, with an A321 also expected in 2027 (Jordan News Agency, 8 September 2026) · Boeing 787: seven 787-8s, refurbished, and two 787-9s added in 2026, with a third due in 2027 and nine planned in all (Jordan News Agency, 8 September 2026) · Embraer E2: eight, mainly on the regional network (Jordan News Agency, 8 September 2026)

How to prepare

Every door Brookfield advertises for Royal Jordanian is for a pilot already rated and current on the type, so your preparation is the type you fly now. For the A320, work the A320 bank below for the systems questions a rated pilot is expected to answer without notes, and the A320 interview set for the way they are asked aloud. For the Embraer advert, the E-Jet bank covers the E170 and E190 systems; Royal Jordanian’s Embraer fleet in September 2026 was eight E2s, so learn what the E2 changed as well. The B787 bank covers the 787-8 and 787-9 it also flies, and every applicant can use the ATPL theory banks for the performance, meteorology and air law underneath. The adverts give the selection as a technical interview with the airline and a simulator check, so expect questions on your type and a check flown to its standard procedures, and practice the crew resource management and command questions with the CRM interview set. Do the arithmetic before you apply: your total hours, your jet hours, your hours as First Officer or in command on the type, the dates of your last flight on it and of your last proficiency check (the A320 adverts accept either within the last 90 days and want a proficiency check within 90 days before you join; the Embraer advert wants a flight on type within 3 months), and the expiry of your rating, which must have at least 3 months to run. Then ask Brookfield what Jordan’s Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission needs to validate your license, and who obtains the visa.

Royal Jordanian has no interview guide on v1prep yet, so for the technical interview and the simulator check read the complete airline pilot interview guide and the Library’s technical questions in airline pilot interviews and airline simulator assessment. For the Airbus control laws, read A320 flight controls: laws and protections; for the Embraer advert, the E-Jet family and flight deck, which sets out what the E2 changed; and to total your hours the way the adverts count them, flight time logging and recent experience. Other airlines that recruit rated A320 pilots are on A320 pilot jobs, Embraer operators on Embraer pilot jobs, Captain routes on direct entry Captain jobs, and the region’s airlines on pilot jobs in the Middle East, among them Etihad, whose A320 vacancies at its last check were also for rated pilots. Check Royal Jordanian’s entry on the jobs board for the latest status.

What we could not confirm

These points are not published clearly by the airline. Treat them as leads, not facts, and confirm them on the careers page: careers page.

Common questions

Is Royal Jordanian hiring pilots? Through its recruitment partner Brookfield Aviation: on 2 November 2026 Brookfield’s own job page listed contract adverts for A320 First Officers, A320 Captains and Embraer Captains, all based in Amman, on 12-month renewable contracts. Royal Jordanian’s own careers site had no open pilot posting, and its last direct call, for A320 Captains on Jordan’s national employment portal, closed on 8 April 2026. Brookfield’s adverts give no closing date, so confirm with Brookfield that a role is still open before you apply.

How many flight hours do you need for Royal Jordanian? As a contract A320 First Officer, at least 1,500 hours total, 1,000 on jets and 500 as First Officer on the A320. As a contract A320 Captain, at least 5,000 hours total, 3,000 on jets, 1,500 in command of jet airliners and 500 in command on the A320. These are Brookfield Aviation’s adverts as its job pages showed them on 2 November 2026.

Do you need a type rating to fly for Royal Jordanian? Yes. Every advert asks for a current rating with at least 3 months of validity left: on the A320, with your last A320 flight or proficiency check within the last 90 days; on the Embraer, with a last flight on the E190 or E195 within 3 months, the airline training first-generation E-Jet Captains for the E2. No route for pilots without a rating was advertised at the last check, on 2 November 2026.

Does Royal Jordanian sponsor the visa for foreign pilots? Its recruitment partner’s adverts do not say. Brookfield Aviation’s Royal Jordanian adverts, as its job pages showed them on 2 November 2026, offer a 12-month renewable contract with accommodation and positioning tickets, and list license validation with the local authorities among the selection steps, but say nothing about the visa or the residence permit, so ask Brookfield who obtains and pays for them before you sign.

How much does a Royal Jordanian contract pay? Brookfield Aviation’s adverts, as its job pages showed them on 2 November 2026, gave USD 8,500 net a month for A320 First Officers and USD 12,300 net a month for A320 and Embraer Captains. The A320 adverts add accommodation in a five-star hotel, ground transport, positioning tickets, international medical insurance and a non-commuting roster with 8 days off a month. The contract is Brookfield’s, for 12 months and renewable.
