Binter Pilot Requirements 2026: Hours, License and Hiring Process

RecruitingF/O: RecruitingCaptain: RecruitingChecked 5 November 2026

Binter, the airline of the Canary Islands, flies ATR 72 turboprops on its shorter routes and Embraer E195-E2 jets on the longer ones, and it recruits pilots on its own job portal. Its standing posting, “Piloto”, read again at the last check, on 5 November 2026, and unchanged since 29 October, asks for an ATPL or a CPL, a medical and English and Spanish (castellano) at level 4 at least, and says a type rating and hours on Binter’s fleet count in your favor; it gives no hours minimum, and no rank, base or closing date. The portal’s job list that day also showed two ATR 72-600 Captain postings, “Comandantes” and “Fastrack Comandantes”, with Puerto del Rosario, on Fuerteventura, as the place of work; the list gives their titles only. In September 2026 search results had also shown non-type-rated “Copiloto E-2” First Officer listings for the E195-E2, which needed Spanish at level 5 and, with an MPL, 70 hours in command; they have not surfaced since 30 October 2026. In July 2026 Binter ordered five more E195-E2s.

Always confirm on the airline’s own careers page before applying. Every figure here is what the airline published at the date shown against it on our jobs board; entries marked Unconfirmed are ones whose requirements we found but whose current vacancy status we could not establish from the airline’s own pages. Vacancies open and close without notice.

Is Binter hiring pilots now?

Recruiting at the last check on 5 November 2026 — First Officer seat: Recruiting; Captain seat: Recruiting. Standing “Piloto” posting for its ATR 72 and E195-E2 fleets (ATPL or CPL, English 4 and Spanish 4 at least, no hours minimum) and two ATR 72-600 Captain postings at Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, on its job portal on 5 November 2026

What we found at the last check: On 5 November 2026 Binter’s job portal carried its standing pilot posting, “Piloto”, unchanged since 29 October 2026: an open application for pilots of its ATR 72 turboprops and Embraer E195-E2 jets, asking for an ATPL or a CPL, a medical, and English and Spanish at level 4 at least, and valuing a type rating and hours on its fleet, with no rank, base or closing date. The portal’s job list also showed two ATR 72-600 Captain postings, “Comandantes” and “Fastrack Comandantes”, at Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, filed under “NY Piloto”; the list gives no requirements. The September 2026 listings for non-type-rated E195-E2 First Officers (“Copiloto E-2”), who needed Spanish at level 5, have not surfaced since 30 October 2026.

How we checked

Read directly on 5 November 2026 in the GitHub runner’s downloads of Binter’s job portal (trabajaconnosotros.bintercanarias.com). The “Piloto” posting (/jobs/piloto) read word for word as on 28 and 29 October 2026: an open application (“¡Aplica ahora!”) for pilots of its ATR 72 and Embraer E195-E2 fleets, with minimum requirements of an ATPL (PTLA) or CPL, a medical, English level 4 and Spanish level 4 at least, and a rating and hours on its fleet valued; it names no rank, base or closing date. The first page of the portal’s job list (page 1 of 2; the second page was not downloaded) listed two pilot postings, “Comandantes ATR 72-600” and “Fastrack Comandantes ATR 72-600”, both under the label “NY Piloto”, place of work Puerto del Rosario, on site (“Presencial”); the list gives titles only, and the two postings themselves were not downloaded. The list does not say which group company “NY” is: Naysa, a Binter group operator of ATR 72-600s, had Captain and Fast Track Captain listings in search results on 29 September 2026, and a job board’s undated copy of a Naysa ATR 72-600 Captain listing (AviationCV) named a new base in Fuerteventura. The other listings seen in search results on 29 September 2026 (“Copiloto E-2”, “Copilotos E-2”, “Copiloto E-2 (con alta experiencia)” and “Copilotos y Comandantes habilitados en ATR” for Binter Canarias, and Naysa’s First Officer listings) did not resurface in search results on 30 October 2026 or 5 November 2026 and were not on the first page of the portal’s list; on 5 November 2026 a job board’s copy of a Binter Canarias E-Jet First Officer listing (PilotsGlobal) was marked “This vacancy has been closed”. Fleet: Air Data News of 14 February 2025, read in the runner’s download, for the counts and the ATR order; Binter’s fleet page did not download. The July 2026 E195-E2 order from search results (ch-aviation, AeroTime, citing Embraer’s announcement).

Job boards also carry undated copies of Binter listings, among them ATR 72 Captain and Quick Upgrade Captain posts and a Naysa ATR 72-600 Captain post for a new base in Fuerteventura. We count only what Binter’s own portal showed: the Captain seat is recruiting on the strength of the two Captain postings in its list, and their terms are for the postings themselves to say.

Read each row with its date. At their own last checks, Iberia had no pilot call open, and its requirements ask for 500 hours on CS-25 airplanes and Spanish at level 5 (12 October 2026); Vueling had no pilot vacancy, only its pilots’ talent pool open, and its last call named English at ICAO Level 4 and no Spanish level (12 October 2026); Air Europa’s First Officer call for its Madrid base, with no hours minimum, took registrations until 31 October 2026 and asks for Spanish at level 6 (2 November 2026); and Air France was recruiting direct-entry First Officers with no hours minimum, but only nationals of an EEA state or Switzerland with fluent French (21 October 2026). Binter’s posting asks for Spanish at level 4, below Iberia’s level 5 and Air Europa’s level 6, and names no hours; but it is a standing posting with no rank or date, not a dated call.

Selection process

The airline does not publish its selection stages in detail; expect an online application, screening against the published minimums, an interview and a simulator or aptitude assessment before the medical.

Bases and fleet

Bases: Canary Islands · Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura: the place of work of the two ATR 72-600 Captain postings on the job portal (5 November 2026)

Fleet: Embraer E195-E2: 15 in service out of an order for 16 in February 2025 (Air Data News, 14 February 2025); five more ordered on 21 July 2026, at the Farnborough air show, with four purchase rights (Embraer’s announcement, as ch-aviation and AeroTime reported it) · ATR 72: 27 in operation in February 2025, most of them ATR 72-600s, when Binter ordered four more ATR 72-600s with PW127XT engines, with options on five (Air Data News, 14 February 2025)

The fleet, the orders and the group

Binter’s posting describes the two types: the ATR 72 turboprop for short distances and, for the longer ones, the Embraer E195-E2, which it calls the most ecological airplane in its class, with the lowest levels of noise and emissions. In February 2025 Binter operated 27 ATR turboprops, most of them ATR 72-600s, and 15 E195-E2s out of an order for 16, and it ordered four more ATR 72-600s, with Pratt & Whitney PW127XT engines, and options on five (Air Data News, 14 February 2025). On 21 July 2026, at the Farnborough air show, Embraer announced Binter’s order for five more E195-E2s, with four purchase rights (as ch-aviation and AeroTime reported it). The ATR listings of September 2026 included posts at Naysa, a Binter group operator of ATR 72-600s, and the two Captain postings of 5 November 2026 are filed under “NY Piloto”, so read which company a contract is with. Which island bases take pilots hired under the “Piloto” posting, it does not say; the Captain postings give Puerto del Rosario, on Fuerteventura. For the fleet, the ATR 72 bank covers the turboprop and the E-Jet bank the E195-E2.

How to prepare

Start with the languages, because no number of hours makes up for them: the “Piloto” posting asks for English and Spanish (castellano) at level 4 at least on your language proficiency endorsement, and the September 2026 E195-E2 First Officer listings asked for Spanish at level 5, so if your Spanish endorsement is below level 5, have it assessed before you apply (the Library’s pilot licensing framework explains the endorsement and how often each level is re-tested). Then the paperwork: your ATPL or CPL with its ratings, your medical, and your logbook totals, with any hours on the ATR 72 or an E-Jet on lines of their own, since the posting values them. Binter flies two types, and v1prep has a bank for each: the ATR 72 bank covers the turboprop’s limitations, its powerplant and propellers, flight controls and stall protection, ice protection and the -600 flight deck, and the E-Jet bank covers the E1 and E2 families, so it is the preparation for the E195-E2, with the Library’s E-Jet family and flight deck for what the E2 changed. For the turboprop, read the Library’s propellers and propeller control too. Binter publishes no selection stages and we found no candidate reports of them, so prepare for the usual shape, an interview and a simulator assessment, with the Library’s competency-based pilot interviews and airline simulator assessment; the ATPL theory banks below keep the theory behind your license fresh. For the ATR 72-600 Captain postings, read each posting for its hours, rating and language levels before you apply: the portal’s list gives none of them.

Binter has no interview guide on v1prep yet, so for the selection read the complete airline pilot interview guide and the Library’s pilot CV and application; its flight time logging and recent experience explains the time as pilot in command under supervision (PICUS) that the September E-2 listings counted, and its commercial and airline transport pilot licenses the CPL, the ATPL and the MPL. For the Spanish route as a whole, read how to become an airline pilot in Spain; the other Spanish airlines are on Iberia, Air Europa and Vueling pilot requirements, and Binter’s two types on Embraer pilot jobs and turboprop pilot jobs. Check Binter’s entry on the jobs board for the latest status.

Common questions

Is Binter hiring pilots? Yes, at the last check, on 5 November 2026. Binter’s job portal carried its standing pilot posting, “Piloto”, for its ATR 72 and Embraer E195-E2 fleets, unchanged since 29 October 2026 and with no rank, base or closing date, and its job list showed two ATR 72-600 Captain postings, “Comandantes” and “Fastrack Comandantes”, at Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura. The separate listings of September 2026 for non-type-rated E195-E2 First Officers have not surfaced since 30 October 2026. Check the job portal before you apply.

How many flight hours do you need for Binter? The “Piloto” posting gives no hours minimum: it asks for an ATPL or a CPL and values hours on Binter’s fleet. The September 2026 E195-E2 First Officer listings gave no total-time figure either, but asked MPL holders for 70 hours as pilot in command, or at least 10 plus time as pilot in command under supervision, including 20 hours of VFR cross-country. The portal’s list gives no figure for the two ATR 72-600 Captain postings, so read the postings themselves.

Do you need to speak Spanish to fly for Binter? Yes. The “Piloto” posting read on 5 November 2026 asks for English at level 4 and Spanish (castellano) at level 4 at least, and the September 2026 E195-E2 First Officer listings asked for Spanish at level 5. The license itself needs a language proficiency endorsement at Level 4 in English or in the language used on the radio, so the Spanish is Binter’s own requirement.

Do you need a type rating to fly for Binter? No. The “Piloto” posting values an ATR 72 or E195-E2 rating and hours on the type but does not require them, and the September 2026 E195-E2 First Officer listings took pilots without a rating; the ATR listings of that month wanted a current ATR 72-600 rating. Who pays for the rating of a pilot hired without one, and whether a bond follows, is not published.

What license does Binter ask for? The “Piloto” posting asks for an airline transport pilot license (ATPL, PTLA in Spanish) or a commercial pilot license, and a medical. The September 2026 E195-E2 First Officer listings asked for at least the ATPL theory with a CPL or an MPL, or an ATPL, with a valid instrument rating, an MCC certificate or equivalent and a Class 1 medical.
