Singapore Airlines Pilot Requirements 2026: Hours, Licence and Hiring Process

RecruitingF/O: RecruitingCaptain: Not offeredChecked 21 September 2026

SIA’s Direct Entry First Officer stream is a rated one — A350 or A380, 1,500 hours multi-crew on jets over 20 tonnes (700 considered on merit) — on a fixed-term contract with an employment pass, and its Ab Initio Cadet Pilot route is for Singapore-based candidates with a seven-year bond from appointment as First Officer. SIA recruits directly and uses no agencies; a CAAS-recognised Class 1, ICAO English 5 and a 1.58 m height minimum apply. No direct-entry Captains.

How to prepare

Direct-entry candidates already hold the A350 or A380 rating and are assessed on it; cadets face a computer assessment, interviews and a medical before training. The ATPL theory banks are the preparation for SIA’s technical stages, and the A320 bank covers the systems logic shared across the Airbus fly-by-wire family. Apply only through careers.singaporeair.com — SIA states it engages no third parties.
